Faerie Homes & Gardens Faerie Homes & Gardens is a delightful and whimsical book, which is still a work in progress. The book will give you a rare glimpse into the actual homes, furnishings and gardens created by Tatiana Katara for the little folk of Fae. Tatiana is a renowned faerie architect who has designed and crafted countless faerie creations, from tree root dwellings and tree forts to majestic mansions, Victorian homes and stone palaces. Until recently, Tatiana’s homes, furnishings and gardens have not been seen by most humans, but she has decided to reveal a limited number of these wonderful dwellings to the public. The faerie veil has been lifted, and through the cooperation of the faerie homeowners and a skilled photographer, these marvelous creations have been compiled to create Faerie Homes & Gardens. As you wander through the colorful pages of rooms and furnishings, you are apt to get lost in the details and find yourself mesmerized for hours. Tatiana’s vivid and revealing text is as captivating as her architectural creations, as she relates her experiences in working directly with the faerie folk and discusses their customs and traditions, a bit of the history of their homes, and how they design and build their own dwellings. You may even learn a faerie secret or two. For thousands of years, faeries have lived in nature, much the way animals do, with a leaf or tree nook or cranny for protection and comfort. But in recent years, faeries have been compelled to move into more permanent residences, which offer the comfort and amenities we humans enjoy. Using modern-day human tools, Tatiana has been a pivotal resource for helping the fae folk design and build structures that are functional and can endure the many forces of nature. Tatiana’s approach to architecture and design is simultaneously simple and elegant. Her work is influenced by many traditional home styles from human culture, but her favorite is the classic Victorian. Inspired by her love for these ornate homes and the natural materials she builds with, Tatiana originated the latest trend in design, which she calls “Rustic Victorian.” Her unique style has been emulated by designers in both the faerie and the human realms. Because of her rising popularity in faerie culture, Tatiana has been commissioned to build homes for some of the most prominent faerie figures known today, including the tooth fairy, several fairy godmothers, Thumbelina II, and the great King Oberon. Her works have been an inspiration to faerie lovers, architects, miniature enthusiasts, rustic artists, crafters, teachers and the like.

ANATOMY OF A FAERIE HOUSE I take into consideration many factors when building a custom faerie home. Where my clients live, their concerns about visibility and the natural elements in their area that might be important to consider. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with zoning or building codes so I can build whatever I want. Most of my faerie houses are quite traditional (well, traditional to humans anyway), buit I am working on a sequel to FAERIE HOMES & GARDENS, called EXTREME FAERIE HOMES. This book will feature some of my most elaborate and creative faerie dwellings. Since much of this book is still in progress, I haven't put any photos up yet, but check back. This website is a continual work in progress and will be changed and updated often.
One advantage faeries have is the ability to pick up and move their home with them. The owners of this little birch cottage (who asked to remain anonymous) lived in my birch grove until they found the location of their dreams. When they finally found the land they wanted, it was a simple move. We didn't even bother packing up the furnishings, I just put their house and canoe in a box and drove it to the new location.
